Juanita McElvany Hill Leak has accomplished a lot of living in 100 years.

She was born on January 30, 1924, between the cities of Prague and Okmulgee to Valcie Bell Little and Robert Lorance McElvany.

She became acquainted with Dwight Hill through church. His father was a Methodist preacher and was called to pastor Juanita’s church in Prague. Dwight and Juanita married on June 20, 1953. He passed away in 2003.

Dwight and Juanita had three children: Sandra Austin, Darlene Taylor and Rick Hill. All three children attended Meeker Schools and graduated from Meeker High School. They all married and had children. Sandra has four children, Darlene two and Rick two.

Juanita has 16 grandchildren and 20 greatgrandchildren.

After graduation, Juanita went to work for the welfare office in the basement of the capitol building in Oklahoma City. When the welfare office closed, she moved to the Oklahoma Health Department as secretary to the assistant manager.

Later, they built the Help-Ur-Self Laundry in Prague. This was back in the time when you used three Maytag square tubs to soak clothes in. After they sold the laundromat, Dwight went to work in the Post Office of the Oklahoma Senate.

Dwight and Juanita moved to Meeker and opened the Phillips 66 Station located where the Meeker BancFirst Bank is now. Later, they moved to four corners (Hwys 18 and 62) and ran the station for 25 years. If you drove by the station, you would see Juanita pumping gas for customers or cleaning their windshields. She recalled with a smile, “I have changed many a tire.”

Juanita went to work for WalMart and retired after 11 years.

Dwight was on the School Board for 15 years, was a volunteer firefighter, a charter member of the Chamber of Commerce and was on the Meeker Planning Commission.
