COVID-19 continues climbing

Pottawatomie County has well surpassed 1,000 people testing positive for COVID-19, reporting more than 100 new cases in the past week. The county’s total on Tuesday was 1,086. Last week that number was 970.

In Pottawatomie County, the number of people testing positive for the virus climbed by 116 since last week, the Oklahoma State Department of Health reported.

Combined with Lincoln County, the total number of positive cases in the two counties now stands at 1,444 as of Tuesday.

Lincoln County’s number on Tuesday was 358, the OSDH said, and the county’s positive cases over the past week has jumped by 24. Last week there were 334 positive cases.

A week ago, the combined number of positive cases in the two counties stood at 1,304.

Also as of Tuesday, there have been 18 reported deaths in the two counties, nine from each county. Total number of people who have recovered in the two counties is 1,189 according to OSDH figures. In Pottawatomie County, 887 have recovered and 302 have recovered in Lincoln County.

The combined number recovered in the two counties five weeks ago stood at 633.

Statewide as of Tuesday, 71,314 have tested positive, there have been 912 deaths and 59,993 who have recovered. Active cases stood at 10, 409 the OSDH said.

Last week there were 65,053 testing positive, there had been 854 deaths and 54,269 had recovered. There were 9,930 active cases a week ago.

More than a month ago, the number of positives statewide stood at 44,728. The statewide number of deaths at that same time attributed to the virus stood at 618.

On Tuesday of this week, the OSDH reported 1,091 new positive cases confirmed and seven additional deaths.

There were 561 currently hospitalized on Tuesday, the agency said.
