The number of COVID-19 deaths in Pottawatomie and Lincoln Counties rose by eight and there have been more than 400 new positive cases, the most recent Oklahoma State Department of Health figures show.
Five of the deaths have occurred in Pottawatomie County and three new deaths have been recorded in Lincoln County, according to the OSDH.
The OSDH has begun reporting the breakdown of deaths and new cases on a weekly basis rather than daily.
The agency is releasing that information on Wednesdays so the most recent numbers provided here are from Sep. 8 since this week’s edition went to press Tuesday night, Sep. 14.
There now have been 143 deaths in Pottawatomie County attributed to COVID-19, up five from the last report.
Lincoln County now has 83 reported deaths.
The number of new positive tests in Pottawatomie County rose by 282 and in Lincoln County they increased by 165, according to figures provided by the OSDH.
Between the two counties, the number of positive tests jumped by 447 from the most recent report by the OSDH. The previous report had that number increasing by 569. Lincoln County’s latest number is
Lincoln County’s latest number is 4,232. It was 4,067 at the last report.
The number of people testing positive for the virus in Pottawatomie County now stands at 10,181. Last report it was 9,899.
The total number testing positive in the two counties now stands at 14,413.
Total number of people who have recovered in the two counties is now 13,513, up by 505, the OSDH said. In Pottawatomie County, 9,605 have recovered and 3,908 have recovered in Lincoln County.
The OSDH reported as of Sep. 8 statewide, 568,874 people have tested positive, compared to 550,239 at the last report. There have been 8,208 Oklahoma provisional deaths, last week’s reporting showed 8,001. And active cases stand at 27,332. Last report they were 26,640.
The OSDH has stopped reporting total number of recovered statewide.
