Hearing continued in growhouse bust

A pre-preliminary hearing has been continued for the owner of a major illegal marijuana grow operation who was charged following her arrest by agents in June. Sai Ying Lin, 48, of Tryon, was formally charged in Lincoln County District Court June 23.

Felony charges for indecent acts

Two felony charges for lewd or indecent acts to a child under 16 and one for sexual battery have been filed against a 38-year-old man. The three counts were formally filed against Eric L. Kempf for alleged activity that went on at a residence in Tryon for two years.

Over the past two weeks Meeker FFA has had students competing in Greenhand Quiz and Opening and Closing Ceremonies contests. They have been very successful in their competitions. Last week at Morrison, the Opening and Closing Ceremonies teams placed first in one room and second in the other.

Dale board gets reports

College Remediation and dropout reports were presented to the Dale School Board this week and members were given updated financial information. Assistant High School Principal J.D. Widner advised the board there were zero dropouts in the district.

School shuts for bomb threat

Chandler schools were forced to evacuate and classes were canceled on Monday shortly after they started due to a bomb threat. The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the bomb threat. Capt.

Charges dropped in abuse case

Two felony child abuse charges against a Prague man who was scheduled to go to trial later this month have been dismissed by state prosecutors. However, an additional charge of assault and battery filed against the man in early February of 2020 is still pending, records show.
