Davenport’s Bulldogs earned their second shutout of the football season with a 48-0 victory over Strother on the Bulldogs’ home field last week. The game ended following Davenport’s first drive of the second half.

Fast pitch regionals matchups

The Oklahoma Secondary Schools Activities Association has released the pairings for the regional fast pitch tournaments. Most games are set for Thursday and Friday, but some tournaments have moved to Wednesday and Thursday in anticipation of rain storms forecasted later in the week.

Adeline Marie Pieper was born February 15, 1937, in Avery, Okla., and died Friday, September 24, 2021, at her home in Cushing, Okla. She was 84 years old. Pieper, the daughter of George and Esther Ewen, married Tommy Taylor on June 20, 1955, in Avery.

Virginia Lee Corter was born March 19, 1939, in San Juan, Texas, and died Saturday, September 25, 2021, at her home in Parkland. She was 82 years old. Corter, the daughter of Gilbert Hall and Ara Leola (Dobbs) Hall, married Eddie Roberts on November 20, 1953, in Oklahoma City.

Gene Dillon Pyle was born February 21, 1930, in Stonington, Ill. He died Friday, September 24, 2021, in Chandler at the age of 91 years. The son of Henry and Ida (Clayborn) Pyle, he married Lois Baratta in 1950.

Vern Elmer Helms Jr. of Davenport was born May 3, 1959, in Ponca City, Okla., and died Saturday, September 25, 2021. He was 62 years old. Helms worked at Farm Fresh (now Hiland Dairy) before becoming an E&C Technician at Kinder Morgan. He was preceded in death by his parents Vern Sr.
