Bridge replaced on Eighth Street

Construction is continuing on the Eighth Street bridge project in Chandler. City Manager James Melson said a 64-feet concrete box with wing walls is being constructed to replace the bridge that washed out a few months back with the heavy rains.

13 more area deaths from COVID

The number of COVID-19 deaths in Pottawatomie and Lincoln Counties jumped by 13, and the new positive cases are up more than 300, the most recent Oklahoma State Department of Health figures show.

The McLoud High School Alumni Association held its fall meeting of Tuesday, Sept. 14th, at the Ferrell building in McLoud. Those attending enjoyed a good “finger lick’n” chicken lunch with side dishes and homemade desserts. Various topics were tabled.

Longtime Chandler residents Willie Criss and Dortha May Vorhis would be proud that the reunion they started so many years ago has continued to be carried on by their family for 62 years.

Chandler High School seniors Sarah Goodman and Dalton Fowble were named student members of the Rotary Club for September 2021. Sarah Goodman is the daughter of Mike and Stephanie Goodman. She has one older sibling.

Bench warrant issued for Wellston man

A $20,000 bench warrant that was issued for the arrest of a Wellston man facing two felony counts of lewd or indecent acts to a child under 16 has been return and filed. The two felonies were filed on Sep. 21 in Lincoln County District Court against Jason Wayne Womack, 39.

Meeker hires employee

The Meeker Town Board, meeting as the Public Works Authority, has voted to hire Chad Rowan as a PWA employee. The Authority’s action came during a special meeting last Thursday, Sep. 23. Mayor Jeff Wilbourn explained that Rowan began work on Monday of this week as a new employee.

Felony charge

A Prague resident faces a felony count of failing to register as a sex offender following his arrest by Prague police recently. Mitchell Thurman Buss, 38, was formally charged in Lincoln County District Court Sep. 8 with the felony. Special Judge Emily Mueller set bond at $5,000.
