Jimmie Dean (McMenis) Caldwell was born April 4, 1941, in Sulphur, Okla. She died Friday, September 3, 2021, at her home in Chandler. She was 80 years old. Caldwell was an accomplished seamstress and active in her church.

Loretta Ellen Stokes was born January 2, 1947, in Oklahoma City and died Thursday, September 9, 2021, in Edmond, Okla. She was 74 years old. Stokes, the daughter of Jesse and Irene (Fentner) Bynum, married Gary Grandstaff in August 1963.

Larry Keith Hale

Larry “Chief” Keith Hale was born to Marvin “Mob” Theodore and Vernal Viola Crail Hale on September 3, 1947, in Tulare, Calif. He died at his home on Saturday, September 11, 2021. He was 74 years old. Chief attended Agra Public School and served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.

Pirates 36, Lions 26

Bristow’s Darien Dansby turned a loose ball into a 36-yard fourth-quarter touchdown return to give Bristow a 10-point victory over Chandler Friday night. Dansby’s game-breaker came about after a fourthdown play by the Lions at their own 36-yard line with 2:36 left in the game.

Cross country: Randall, Coody win again

Meeker’s Riley Randall and North Rock Creek’s Jordan Coody ran to wins at cross country meets Saturday. The defending class 3A state champion, Randall clocked 16:39.10 to win the 2A-3A-4A division at the Oklahoma Baptist University meet, which was held at Gordon Cooper Technology Center in Shawnee.

Big win for Davenport

The Davenport Bulldogs have opened the season with a 2-0 record after thumping Wetumka 50-8 in their home opener at Bulldog Stadium. Even though the final score was lopsided, Davenport Coach John Greenfield said, “They came out and they thought they were going to win.
