Suspect in food stamp fraud back in court

A Chandler woman who is charged with obtaining food stamps by fraud has been ordered to return to court next month. A $10,000 bench warrant that was issued for Valerie Marie Cox, 47, the same day she was charged, was returned and filed in July.

It was good to see the Pottawatomie County Free Fair return last week after sitting out a year due to COVID-19. Lincoln County held its annual fair the previous week, although it still held a fair last year as well.

Dear Editor, Gone are the days when I could pick up a newspaper and find 15-20 ads for garage sales and make my plans as to where to go. Now, people put them on Facebook and if you’re not Facebook friends, you don’t get that information. Even if you have an ad, you can still put it on Facebook.

A Review Board has determined a Meeker Police officer did not use excessive force as he was attempting to take a driver into custody during an incident on Saturday night of Labor Day weekend.

A Letter from a Meeker Citizen, Early in the week, when I heard of the firing of Meeker’s Town Administrator, Dickie Walton, I imagined all kinds of misdeeds on his part. As I learned from The Lincoln County News today, there were no charges of any kind leveled against Walton.
