Defending state champion Riley Randall turned in a time of 18:13.56 to win the inaugural Bulldog Invitational cross country meet by 12 seconds Thursday. The meet was held at Camp Gruber at Sparks and was run on a scenic course under hot, muggy weather.

Davenport cruises in opener

The Class B Davenport Bulldogs pounded Weleetka 42-18 in their season opener on the road last week and play at home Friday against Wetumka Ḋavenport Coach John Greenfield said Friday night’s home opener kicks off at 7:30 p.m. at Bulldog Stadium.

NRC falls to Crescent

Crescent took advantage of North Rock-Creek turnovers to hand the Cougars a 30-12 loss Friday night. If was the Cougars’ first setback and leaves them at 1-1 heading into this Friday’s Homecoming game against Konawa.

Bethel hands Meeker first loss, 45-19

Meeker upped its offensive output from the season opener, putting up 415 yards of total offense, but still fell, 45-19, at Bethel. In their opening win at Stroud, the Bulldogs relied on their defense, which returned two interceptions for touchdowns.

Davenport plans city-wide sales

The Davenport Chamber of Commerce has scheduled its annual city-wide yard sale event for Saturday, Oct. 2. Enrollment forms are available at City Hall and at several business in Davenport. A $5 fee must be paid with each enrollment. The funds will be used for advertising in all area newspapers.

Davenport to hold fall clean up

Davenport city officials have scheduled a citywide “fall clean up day” for Saturday, Sept. 18. Residents with addresses inside Davenport city limits can dispose of items not normally picked up by the trash contracting company. Items will be picked up if placed street side on that day.

BabyMobile coming to Stroud

The Infant Crisis Services BabyMobile serves as a formula and diaper pantry on wheels. It is the first of its kind in Oklahoma. The goal is to break down the transportation barrier that prevents many families from receiving assistance.

Check out the new books at Chandler Public Library

Librarians at the Chandler Public Library recently purchased new books to help you catch up on the latest bestsellers. The library, located at 1021 S. Manvel Ave., is open 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday.
