A Chandler area girl’s horse who was injured when attacked several weeks ago, possibly by a mountain lion, or wild dogs, got to come home last Friday.

Woman gets 21 years in murder case

A Lincoln County woman who pleaded guilty in the deaths of two people inside a mobile home in December of 2019 has been sentenced to serve 21 years in federal prison. U.S. District Judge Bernard M. Jones on Monday of this week sentenced Desma Valdez, 20, to 262 months in federal prison.

Assault charges file in Stroud domestic case

Stroud police arrested a man recently after they responded to a call concerning a reported domestic disturbance. Formal charges were filed Aug. 11 in Lincoln County District Court against Travis Jacob Simon, 29, of Stroud.

McLoud amends budget

McLoud City Council members have approved a budget amendment and also have increased the purchasing authority of the city manager. Council members approved the budget amendment to cover two expenditures. City Manager Buck Day said one is for a wood chipper that cost $41,401.

At a recent meeting, American Legion Matheny-Burt-Parrott Post 64 dedicated the main hall of their building as Gene Chase Hall. Amos (Gene) Chase was a member of Post 64 for 66 years and was the Post Chaplain for 28 years, as well as holding numerous other offices at Post 64 during his lifetime.
