LC Democrats meet Thursday

The Lincoln County Democrats will meet 7 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 9, in the lobby of the Lincoln County Courthouse. Masks will be required. The public is invited to visit the group’s booth at the Lincoln County Fair, Sept. 2-4.

I was making the curve right before you hit the straight-away north of the Deep Fork River bottom Tuesday afternoon when - Whoa! What is that heading across the road? A beaver? It was beaverish, for sure, but it had a scruffy tail instead of the flat, rubbery kind that beavers usually prefer.

Our grandson Liam turned 3 years old on Tuesday. Wow, that just doesn’t seem possible, but it is. His little birthday party was last Sunday at our daughter and son-in-law’s home in Norman. Liam’s first birthday party was at our house.

There will be no more updates from me on any of the town’s activities. The new mayor, Jeff Wilbourn, called for a special meeting to be held on Wednesday, August 25 at 7 pm. The only thing listed on the agenda was to discipline, suspend, terminate or ask for the resignation of Dickie Walton.

Mom and I have recovered from our bout with COVID. We are out of quarantine and back to our normal routine. We do grieve for all our friends who have lost loved ones to this virus. Stroud has suffered so much loss recently, not only due to COVID but other illnesses and accidents.

COVID keeps climbing

The number of new positive COVID-19 cases in Pottawatomie and Lincoln Counties is still rising but the pace has slowed some, the most recent Oklahoma State Department of Health figures show.
