Almost nine months ago, voters throughout Lincoln and Pottawatomie counties joined other Oklahomans across the state in soundly rejecting State Question 805. They shelved attempts to reform state sentencing laws. More than 70 percent of Lincoln County voters opposed SQ 805.

1. Update on Fireworks Display A. The Chamber of Commerce had a great make up event for the Fireworks Display. B. They shot off fireworks for what seemed like an hour. There were different patterns that exploded in the sky this year with different twist & turns.

The other morning before my wife Pat headed off to work, she asked me if I would have time to go over to her mom’s house. She explained her mom needed my assistance in canceling out a credit card she no longer uses nor needs. I of course replied that I’d be more than glad to handle that.

Hearing set in Tryon pot arrest

A hearing has been set for the owner of a major illegal marijuana grow operation who was arrested in June when agents raided her business. Sai Ying Lin, 48, of Tryon, was formally charged in Lincoln County District Court June 23.

Meeker Town Board: Special meeting

The Meeker Town Board of Trustees called a special meeting for Wednesday evening, Aug. 25, to discuss Town Administrator Dickie Walton. Because the paper went to press on Tuesday evening, Aug. 24, the Trustees’ action will be reported in the next issue, Sep. 2.

Lincoln County Fair next week

The Lincoln County Fair is but a few days with the opening scheduled for next Wednesday evening, Sep. 1, at the Fairgrounds in Chandler. Jessica Riggin, Lincoln County Extension Director, assures everyone, “We’re having a fair.” She said it opens this year with the swine show beginning at 6:30 p.
