Stroud man charged with assaulting police

The Stroud police chief and another officer were reportedly assaulted by a man as they were attempting to arrest him while responding to a call. The man, identified as Steven Eugene Laffoon, 52, of Stroud, faces two felonies and three other charges as he allegedly resisted their arrest.

Suspect ordered to rehab

A Stroud man facing a felony count following a reported altercation with a woman and his arrest by Stroud police in late June has been ordered to a rehab center. Formal charges were filed in Lincoln County District Court on July 1 this year against Ethan Cord Melson, 30.

Lincoln County commissioners

Lincoln County commissioners, during a special meeting recently, adopted a resolution authorizing County Bridge and Road Improvement (CBRI) funds to be used for repair of a washed out tin horn during the recent June flooding. The tin horn is located in District 1.

Two new employees for Chandler schools

Chandler School Board members recently voted to hire two new employees and accepted the resignation of another. School Supt. Melody Toma said Amanda Savig was hired as an Elementary teacher to teach sixth grade. Toma noted that Renee Smith has been hired a social worker.

No changes in Wes Watkins hunting, fishing fees

The McLoud City Council has agreed to leave duck hunting and deer hunting areas the same for this year, but beginning in January of 2022 that will change. The action came during a recent special meeting of the council.

Felony assault in Stroud

A Stroud woman suffered facial injuries recently during an altercation with a man who now faces two felonies and a misdemeanor. Daniel Kyle Lee, 35, was formally charged in Lincoln County District Court with aggravated assault and battery and domestic abuse assault and battery.

Burglary charges in Meeker

A Meeker man is facing a first degree burglary charge following his arrest by law enforcement officers in late July. Formal charges of first degree burglary were filed in Lincoln County District Court on July 30 against Michael Jay Stone, 32.

Felony charges in Meeker case

A Meeker resident faces two felonies and two misdemeanors after he was found slumped over his vehicle in the middle of a Lincoln County intersection. Two felony drug charges were filed in Lincoln County District Court Aug. 4 against Ray Dean Hagar, 63.

Local COVID cases rise by 300

The number of new positive COVID-19 cases in Pottawatomie and Lincoln Counties has risen by more than 300 since the last report, Oklahoma State Department of Health figures show. One new death also has been reported in Lincoln County, according to the OSDH.
