Chandler’s opera connection

Chandler had a remarkable influence on the development of an opera camp for young talents that has grown into a training program for aspiring professional singers. This summer, Opera in the Ozarks celebrated its 70th anniversary. The celebration was delayed a year because of COVID-19.

Arraignment set for Edmond man in fatal crash

An arraignment has been scheduled for a driver charged with manslaughter in the traffic death of a Stroud woman in 2020. Jessie O. Hardridge, 42, of Edmond, was charged June 22, 2020 in Lincoln County District Court with first degree manslaughter, a felony, in the death of Wendi Wright, 41.

1. Update on Asphalt Overlay on Highway 18 A. ODOT has completed their initial base overlayment from Hwy. 62 to Hwy 66. They are spraying Bitumen, which is a binder that will hold the asphalt in place and together. Another 2” overlay will top the surface out.

McLoud modifies hunting regulations

The McLoud City Council has approved modifying the public duck and deer hunting policies and drawing procedures at Wes Watkins Lake. McLoud Assistant City Manager Cody Roe said the modification includes extending the period hunters can draw in for duck and deer hunting.
