Stroud Auxiliary meets

The American Legion Auxiliary held its monthly meeting this past Monday evening at the American Legion building. Members attending were Cindy Mason, Julie Bivin, Linda Waller, Jo Braden, Velma Brant, Diana McGuire, Delores Hamlin and Diana Reed.

Homecoming celebrations

It’s Homecoming season in Central Oklahoma. Stroud had its Homecoming Friday, Meeker had its celebration on Saturday and Chandler will have its homecoming coronation at 6 p.m. Thursday. Above is the Stroud court.

Championships for Dale, North Rock Creek

The Dale and North Rock Creek boys teams won tournament championships last week, with Dale taking the crown at the Cashion tournament and North Rock Creek winning the Tri-County Invitational, held at the Cougars’ own gym.

Disk golf

Friday was a beautiful day for late January and disk golfers took full advantage of it. The fivesome of Robert Spurlock, Harley Pettitt, Justin Hoover, Blake Ivie and Logan Pettitt made up one of many groups playing at McLoud’s course along the walking trail in the Lawrence Wahpepah Park.

Tim Ray McBride

On Thursday January 21, 2021, Tim Ray McBride of Chandler, Okla., passed away at age 58. Tim was born in Morse Mill, Mo., on December 30, 1962 to Don and Betty Hayden McBride. He graduated from Edmond Memorial High School, class of 1981.

A funeral service will be held for Manchaca, Texas, resident Troy Louis Crail at 2 p.m., Friday, January 29, 2021, at Harrell Funeral Home in Austin, Texas, with Pastor Debbie Head officiating. Burial will follow at Onion Creek Memorial Park in Austin under the direction of Harrell Funeral Homes.
