The Wellston Tigers moved the ball with ease Friday, piling up 551 yards of total offense and getting the first W of the season.
Quarterback Kage Danker ran for 235 yards and threw for 277 to pace the Wellston attack.
Foyil got off to a 14-0 lead, but Danker for a six-yard score and threw to LaneKulp for a 13-yard touchdown to know the score in the second quarter.
The third quarter was all Wellston, with Danker hitting Evans for a 51-yard and a 55-yard touchdown and running 40 yards for another score.
In the fourth quarter, Dakota Long pitched a 9-yard touchdown pass to Cole Sikes to close out the scoring.
“Our quarterback, Kage Danker, set the tone running the ball and was at his most accurate throwing the ball so far this year,” Wellston coach James Jones said. “Tyler Evans made two acrobatic catches that turned into big plays for us.
“He took his first reception off the back of a defender and then broke two tackles on his way to the end zone.
Lane Kulp was reliable all night catching the ball for us and gave us solid play at defensive back.
“Chance Sanders, Tyler Evans, and Jordan Cox rotated at defensive end to keep the Foyil outside running game in check, while Dakota Long and Tucker McGarigle stuffed the inside run. Danker also stood out on defense and several tackles for loss. “
Evans finished with four catches and 140 yards, including his two touchdowns, and Kulp had six grabs for 92 yards.
On defense, Evans had four tackles, including two for losses; Danker had three, including two for losses; and Kulp and Sikes had one each.
The Tigers are back in action Friday for a 7 p.m. game at Drumright, which is 2-1.
