Work almost finished on North Canadian

Pottawatomie County District 1 crews are nearing completion of a project to place 2,000 tons of Rip-Rap along the banks of the North Canadian River at Brangus and Garrett Lake Roads. District 1 Commissioner Melissa Dennis said she lacked having about 100 tons of Rip-Rap at the beginning of this week. A load was hauled in Monday and another on Tuesday. Once the Rip-Rap was completely in, she said, the fence the river took out last year after heavy rains fell could be put back in and there would be only touch up work left. As we have reported over the past few weeks, rapid erosion of the bank put the North Canadian within a few yards of Garrett’s Lake Road, one of the main east-west roads feeding into Highway 18 in northern Pott County.
