Jesse Joey Patino, 26, of Willard MO was charged with two counts of battery/assault and battery on Police Officer and one count of attempting to escape from penitentiary.
According to the affidavit filed by Lincoln County Deputy Sheriff George Kelly Coleman, the Officer was, “assisting jail staff in the control room of Lincoln County Jail.”
Detention Officer Karen Exendine left the room in order to remove cleaning supplies from the norther unit of the jail.
A few minutes after she left, Deputy Sheriff Cole man saw that she began struggling with inmate Jesse Joey Patino in the main hallway of the upper floor of the building.
Patino was making a seemingly conscious effort to move towards the door that lead out of the jail, according to the affidavit.
Deputy Sheriff Coleman told Officer Johnathon Kelley what was going on and he went to help Officer Exendine.
When Officer Kelley arrived the two struggling individuals were close to the exit door.
Officer Exendine then requested backup by beating on the glass of the exit door where, on the other side there was Lincoln County Deputy Sheriff’s Cody Coleman, Kevin Roe and Captain Larry Stover Sr.
The Officers heard the pounding and came to assist. Deputy Roe then, “drew his taser and removed the cartridge.”
He then placed the taser on the Patino’s back. The inmate complied to Deputy Roe’s orders and Captain Stover Sr. placed handcuffs on him.
Officer Kelley walked away with a minor abrasion on his right forearm.
Officer Exendine didn’t receive any injuries, even though it could be seen on the security cameras that Patino was striking both officers in an attempt to evade their control, according to the affidavit.
Jesse Joey Patino’s pre-preliminary hearing will take place on July 9 at 1:30 in the afternoon.
