Deferred sentences in pot case

Two men from Okmulgee who were scheduled to stand trial during the upcoming jury term have pleaded no contest to reduced charges and drawn deferred terms. Lincoln County deputies arrested the two in November of 2022 The deputies reportedly seized 386 marijuana clone plants.

Trial ahead for grow house defendant

A Prague man has been bound over on several felonies stemming from a reported crime spree he went on following a reported armed burglary he and a Shawnee man allegedly committed last October. Shawn David Morgan, 31, of Prague, was charged in Lincoln County District Court Oct. 25, 2023 with three felonies. He was taken into custody on Nov. 1 after he had eluded law enforcement since the armed burglary of the marijuana grow on Oct. 22.

Guilty plea in child porn case

A Stroud man facing two felony counts dealing with child pornography has pleaded guilty and been sentenced to prison. John Mack Byrd., Jr., 43, was formally charged July 29, 2022 in Lincoln County District Court with possession of child pornography and using access to computers to violate Oklahoma State statutes.

Sentencing continued in shooting

Sentencing of a Chandler man has been continued on amended charges in a shooting on Easter Sunday night in 2023 that injured a teenage girl. Jodie Jones, 44, was formally charged April 11, 2023 in Lincoln County District Court with assault and battery with a deadly weapon and felony discharging firearm into a dwelling.
