McLoud approves bids

The McLoud City Council, meeting as the Public Works Authority, approved bids for several sewer-related projects during its most recent meeting.

Authority members also approved a budget amendment to cover those expenditures.

In the PWA portion of the meeting, they also held off taking action on one bid.

Earlier, meeting as the Council, members approved lot splits and rezoning of property, adopting an ordinance related to that rezoning and lot split.

They also took no action on several items as well.

During the PWA meeting, members accepted a bid of $33,316 for approximately 300 feet of sewer line pipe on 8th Street. City Manager Buck Day said he was able to secure only one bid for the project and that was over a two-month period.

They also decided to take no action yet on a $57,000 bid for boring under U.S. 270 near Mazzio’s.

That project consisted of about 1,300 feet, Day told them.

They accepted a bid of $15,393 for rerouting the forced main from the prison into the Lift Station near SH 102.

Day advised the members, “I could only get one bid and that was from Jordan Contractors.”

A bid of $12,877 was approved for repairing/replacing a sewer manhole on Hinchley near the lift station.

In order to cover those expenditures, the PWA members approved a budget amendment of $61,586.

During their meeting as Council members, they approved lot splits and rezoning of real property at 32238 45th Street in McLoud from A-1 Agriculture to A-2 Agriculture.

That followed a brief public hearing.

The Council also adopted an ordinance on that rezoning and lot slit and approved the emergency clause.

The Council approved the Worker’s Compensation Escrow from 2018-2019 by resolution.

They also approved the 2022 holiday schedule and the 2022 meeting schedule.

Because the Council had only three members in attendance, including Mayor Stan Jackson, Steven Tomaszewski and Daniel McClure, Jr., they took no action on several agenda items, deciding instead to push them off til their Dec. 16 meeting.

Larry Dillon and Vice Mayor Ralph Snider were not in attendance.

Those agenda items they took no action on included:

Creating a City of McLoud Public FaceBook Page and drafting appropriate rules.

Any discussion or action on the Strategic Plan.

Prioritizing the repairs of streets. How to spend $414,000 in ARPA funds.

Discussion or action on the possible infrastructure money from the federal government and creating a plan.

Amending the personnel manual.
