Meeker Town Board of Trustees have tabled action on allowing an RV/Trailer park to be placed at the southwest corner of Veterans and North Dawson by Steve Buoy Construction.
Later, meeting as the Public Works Authority, they voted to increase the price of commercial dumpsters, but kept the price the same for residential Polycarts.
Steve Buoy addressed Trustees concerning the RV/ Trailer park. “I’ve tried to do what’s good for Meeker. This would be 18 to 24 units, no more than 24.”
Vice Mayor Mike Orman said he hasn’t seen any site plan and asked Buoy how the park would enhance the value of the surrounding property.
Buoy responded noting, “Meeker needs the sales tax. These are RV’s, not manufactured homes. I’ll be responsible for water, sewer and electrical.”
In response to Mayor Donna Weber’s concerns about a privacy fence, Buoy said, “We can do a privacy fence.”
He also told the Trustees, “I’m not going to fight you for it. I just want to know if we can do it. It’s already zoned commercial,” he noted.
Trustees agreed to table it until their February meeting and Buoy advised them he would have a site plan for them.
The Trustees also voted to amend a couple of ordinances.
They adopted the 2023 edition of the National Electrical Safety Code for the construction, maintenance, and operation of the Electrical Supply and Equipment of the new specifications of the International Residential Code 2021 to comply with Oklahoma State Statute. Trustees also adopted the emergency clause.
They adopted the 2021 Edition of the International Mechanical Code, regulating and governing the design, construction, quality of materials, erecting, installation, alteration, repair, location, relocation, replacement, addition to use or maintenance of mechanical systems.
On the purchase of a fire truck, the Trustees accepted grant funds from COEDD in the amount of $45,000, then voted to pay $45,000 to Brindlee Fire Apparatus for the purchase of the 2004 Pierce Contender Fire truck using a purchase order.
They approved the purchase order to W.S. Darley for the equipment for the fire truck. The original invoice is for $17,478.73 but the Town will be paying only for equipment as it is shipped and received and they voted to pay $3,651.92 at this time.
Trustees also approved purchase of a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado with approximately 80,000 miles on it for the fire department from Patriot Chevrolet using ARPA funds, but the purchase is subject to removal of the arbitration clause. In other action, the Trustees agreed to close City Hall on March 29, 2024 for Good Friday with employees using their accrued time off.
Meeting as the Public Works Authority, Trustees voted to increase the cost of 2, 4, 6 and 8-yard commercial dumpsters by $5 above what Central Disposal is charging the Town.
