Back to court next week in cruelty case

A Stroud man facing 408 counts of felony animal cruelty will return to court next week for another felony disposition docket.

Jerry Hine appeared before District Judge Sarah Bridge on Jan. 13 on the felony disposition docket with his attorney, Kimberly Miller, who requested that they return on Jan. 20 to give her more time to communicate with his family. She said they were currently working for a resolution in the case. Bridge agreed.

The judge also asked if there was a request for a scheduling order in anticipation of a jury trial. Miller said to go ahead and enter one so that it is there.

Hine was arrested on July 15, 2025, after over 400 Maltese dogs were seized from his business, Add Love Pets, LLC, located in a strip mall in Stroud. His bond was set at $25,000 by Judge Emily Muller on July 16, 2025.

Many of the dogs were in a poor condition with severely matted hair that prevented them from defecating, according to the amended probable cause affidavit.

They also appeared to have little to no human interaction as they all cowered when being picked up. The Humane Society of Tulsa took the dogs into their custody. They’ve been able to find new homes for many of them.

Hine waived his right to a preliminary hearing on Sept. 11, 2025, and pleaded not guilty at his formal arraignment on Sept. 16.
