Chandler named certified film-friendly community

The Oklahoma Film + Music Office (OF+MO) announced on Dec. 17 that Chandler has received film friendly certification by fulfilling the requirements of OF+MO’s Oklahoma Film Friendly Community Program.

The city has hosted several film productions, including “Out of Exile,” “Agnes,” “Anywhere” and “Reverence.” With the new certification, the City of Chandler is hoping to attract more productions for both film and TV.

“Chandler is a hospitable community that supports artistic endeavors, especially the extraordinary creativity found in the film industry,” said Chandler City Manager Jason Orr in an article on the OF+MO website. “Our citizens have eagerly contributed many hours and resources to previous film projects, and that spirit will always be the Chandler way.”

Most recently, around 200 area residents took part in the filming of “Reverence” in December 2023.

“It’s a wonderful full-circle moment for the City of Chandler to achieve film friendly certification after first attending one of our program’s educational workshops earlier this year,” said OF+MO Director Jeanette Stanton in the same article. “We applaud the City of Chandler for their proactive approach to fostering the film and television industry within their community and region, and we look forward to the collaborative future ahead with their support.”

The Oklahoma Film Friendly Community Program educates and assists communities with preparations for incoming film and television production through workshops and a three-step certification program, according to the OF+MO website. The program offers the “film friendly” designation to communities that participate and want to promote themselves in the state’s growing entertainment industry.
