A man who was convicted of a homicide more than 40 years ago now faces two felonies and a misdemeanor after he allegedly assaulted a Lincoln County Sheriff’s Captain.
Formal felony charges were filed in Lincoln County District Court Sep. 23, 2024 against Eddie Gene Moore, 73, Cushing, including assault and battery with a dangerous weapon or in the Alternative Count 2 endangering others while eluding/attempting to elude a police officer.
Supplemental information filed in the case by Assistant District Attorney Kelly Trimble shows Moore was convicted of the felony offense of homicide on June 24, 1983, in Creek County District Court.
Judge Mueller set his bond in that case at $25,000 after he failed to make a court appearance in March of this year. That bond has remained and a motion for reduction in bond was denied in April, court records show.
Those charges filed in January include cruelty to animals, a felony and misdemeanors possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.
In the case filed Sep. 23 this year against Moore, in Count 1 he is accused on Sep. 19, 2024 of assaulting Capt. Larry Stover with the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office with a dangerous weapon, a semi-truck with intent to harm Stover.
Count 2, the alternative, charges him on the same day of eluding Stover during the performance of his duties with the LCSO by attempting to strike the officer’s vehicle while Moore was driving a 1999 International semi truck at 810 Road and 3510 Road, after he had received a visual and audible signal from Stover directing him to bring his semi truck to a stop.
Count 3 accuses Moore on Sep. 19, 2024 of operating his International semi truck at that same location while his license was suspended by the Oklahoma Department of Public Safety.
