The Lincoln County and Pottawatomie County Junior Livestock Shows begin next week, a little earlier than usual, and will continue with both wrapping up with their Premium auctions on Friday, Feb. 21.
The Lincoln County Junior Livestock Show starts Monday morning, Feb. 17, at the Lincoln County Fairgrounds in Chandler with judging of the dairy cattle beginning at 11 a.m.
Kellie Warne, Lincoln County Fair Board Clerk, said she’s not sure of the total number of animals that are entered for the show.
The Pottawatomie County Junior Livestock Show starts at noon on Tuesday, Feb. 18, at the Heart of Oklahoma Exposition Center in Shawnee with the judging of sheep followed by the goats and the show will also conclude on Friday with the annual Premium auction.
Suzanne Gilbert, chairman of the PCJLS Committee, said around 60 sheep and 60 goats will be exhibited.

At the Lincoln County Show, swine judging will start at 9 a.m. Tuesday. The show order is breeding gilts, market hogs and showmanship. All swine will be released at the conclusion of the show.
Beginning at 10 a.m. Wednesday, the goat show starts with does first followed by market goats.
Then comes the sheep show with the breeding ewes followed by market lambs and the showmanship. All sheep and goats will be released at the end of the show.
At the Pottawatomie County Junior Livestock Show on Wednesday, starting at noon will be the beef show. Gilbert said there will be about 90 head of cattle shown.
In Lincoln County at 1 p.m. Thursday the beef show is scheduled to begin. The show order is mini Herefords, Prospect steers, Market steers, selection of sale order, county bred steers, heifers and showmanship. All steers and heifers will be released following the show.
At10a.m.onThursdayinPottawatomie County the swine show starts. Gilbert estimates around 250 head of swine will be exhibited.
In Pottawatomie County on Friday, starting at 5 p.m., is the PCJLS Appreciation reception. An awards and scholarship presentation will begin at 6 p.m. with the premium auction starting at 6:30 p.m.
At the Lincoln County Show on Friday, a meal begins at 5:45 p.m. with the premium auction at 6 p.m.
