A Cushing area man faces two felonies following his arrest by law enforcement officers after he reportedly broke into a home near Wellston.
One count each of first degree and second degree burglary were formally filed in Lincoln County District Court Oct. 30 against Ethan Garrett Gray, 34.
Gray appeared before Special Judge Emily Mueller on Oct. 21 and she set his bond at $50,000. He made his initial appearance Nov. 7 and his pre-preliminary hearing is set for Nov. 21.
In Count 1, first degree burglary, Gray is accused on Oct. 20, 2024 of breaking and entering into a house on South 3340 Road, Wellston, which was in possession and under control of Chelcee Curstin while she was present with the intent to commit a crime.
Count 2, second degree burglary, charges Gray on Oct. 19, 2024 of breaking into the same residence where property was kept with the intent to steal without the knowledge or consent of the owner.
Supplemental information filed by First Assistant District Attorney Adam Kallsnick shows that Gray was previously convicted on Nov. 18, 2015 in Beckham County District Court of driving while under the influence of alcohol.
According to a probable cause affidavit filed by Lincoln County Deputy Sheriff Memphis Anderson he was dispatched to a residence on South 3340 Road on Oct. 20 at 2:27 a.m. Anderson said since he was in the Stroud area at the time, he requested mutual aid from the Wellston Police and the Kickapoo Tribal Police.
As the investigation unfolded, Lincoln County Sheriff’s Capt. Chuck Brewer arrived on the scene after Wellston Police Officer Ben Mashman had arrived who had made contact with Gray. Anderson requested that Mashman detain Gray until he could arrive.
Brewer made contact with the victim Curtis.
Later, Anderson told Gray he would be going to jail and took him to the Lincoln County Jail in Chandler.
