Dale school board approves new hires, resignations

Dale Board of Education members this week approved hiring several new teachers, several new support staff for 2025-2026 and accepted the resignations of two personnel.

They also hired current support staff in a capacity to be determined by the administration for 2025-2026.

Following nearly a 50-minute executive session, board members returned to open meeting and hired Tricia Haughton and Callie Duncan, Secondary teachers, Cody Merrell, Secondary teacher and high school baseball coach and Alicia Robertson, Elementary Special Education teacher.

Board members also hired Kylee Moore, Renita Hill and Beth Brown as new support staff in a capacity to be determined for 2025-2026.

They accepted the resignations of Jimmy Harris, teacher and high school baseball coach and Kelsey Crum, Elementary Special Education teacher.

Board members approved summer camps for baseball, Lady Pirate basketball and Pirate basketball.

They approved property and casualty insurance rates for 2025-2026 which was about $21,000 less than a year ago.

They voted to using Pottawatomie County Education funds to pay for the property and casualty insurance for 2025-2026.

Board members approved participation in the Alternative Education Program with Prague Public Schools.

They approved to grant non-district administrative rights in the Grants Management System on the OSDE single sign on system to Barlow Educational Services Representative Marty Lewis. Those rights will authorize Lewis to enter and submit forms/claims on behalf of the District in consultation with the District Superintendent.

During his report to the Board, School Supt. Will Jones reviewed financial information with the board showing how May of this year compared to the same month in 2024.

The warrants as of May 2025 were $6,432,711 and in May of 2024 they were $5,383.238. That’s an increase of $1,049,473 over May of 2024, he noted.

Building Fund cash balance in May of this year was $775,581 compared to $302,030 in May of 2024. That’s an increase of $473,551.

The General Fund cash balance in May of this year stood at $1,988,291, about $45, 277 less than the $2,033,567 balance in May of 2024, he said.

State Aid received as of May of 2025 is $4,022,883 and that is an increase of $201,103 over the $3,821,783 of May 2024.

The County sales tax balance in May of this year was $349,485 and May of 2024 was $363,516 he said, a decline of $14,034. May’s sales tax check was $27,356.

The County donation acccount stands at $80,379.
