Driver faces third DUI after Meeker arrest

A driver who has been convicted twice since May of this year for driving under the influence of alcohol faces a new felony DUI count.

Jeffery Todd Keener, 47, of Chandler, was formally charged in Lincoln County District Court Oct. 3 with driving while under the influence of alcohol, second and subsequent offense.

Keener appeared before Associate District Judge Sheila Kirk on the same day he was charged and she set his bond at $3,000. She scheduled a pre-preliminary hearing for him on Nov. 3.

Supplemental information filed by prosecutors shows that Keener was convicted on May 6 this year in Lincoln County District Court of driving under the influence of alcohol involving personal injury.

On Sep. 6, a little over a month ago, he was convicted in Pottawatomie County District Court of driving while under the influence of alcohol.

The felony count filed this month accuses him on Oct. 2 of driving a Ford pickup on public streets in the city of Meeker when he had a breath concentration of .08 or more while he was under the influence of alcohol.

Meeker Police Officer Raymond Mackin reported in a probable cause affidavit that he observed a white Ford cross the center lane more than once while it was headed northbound on SH 18, Mackin stated he stopped the vehicle in front of 500 S. Dawson and identified the driver as Jeffery Todd Keener.

Mackin reported that Keener was taken to the Stroud Police Department to have a state breath test run and the result was a blood alcohol content of 0.13 which is over the limit of .08. In the affidavit Mackin states this is Keener’s third DUI.

Mackin transported Keener to the Lincoln County Jail in Chandler where he was booked in without incident.
