Hunter Stewart and Lillian Sams were named the Lions of the Month for February by the Chandler Lions Club. Both are members of the Chandler High School graduating class of 2025.
Hunter Stewart is the son of Jim and Jennifer Stewart. He has a 3.68 grade point average and has attended the Aviation Maintenance program at Gordan Cooper Technology Center for two years. He has also been a member of the National Technical Honor Society for two years and has taken Honors English for three years.
Stewart has been a member of the band for seven years, during which he was the section leader for clarinets for one year.
He’s been part of Boy Scouts of America for 10 years.
Stewart’s community involvement includes taking part in the Batman vs. MS Walk for two years.
He has worked as a mower at Hilltop Apartments for three years.
After graduation, Stewart plans to attend Gordan Cooper Technology Center for one year to obtain his Airframe and Powerplant certification for Aviation.
After that, he plans to work for Tinker Air Force Base as an aircraft mechanic. Lillian Sams has a 3.8 grade point average and has taken AP English and College Algebra.
She has won the Student of Tomorrow award. She is also a member of the National Honor Society.
Sams’ clubs and activities include basketball from 2020 to 2025, track from 2020 to 2025, cross country manager from 2020 to 2021, Positive Peers from 2022 to 2025, Academic Team from 2023 to 2024, Yearbook from 2023 to 2024 and Banc-First Student Board from 2024 to 2025.
Sams’ community involvement includes serving people groceries at God and Peoples Food Pantry, assisting in teaching at Vacation Bible School, providing food to raise money for a teacher in need with Soup-da-doop, sponsoring a Christmas kid and reading to children at a local elementary school for Thanksgiving for the NHS Read Day.
