Choirs at local junior high and high schools definitely have something to sing about. Stroud and Chandler saw several students make ECOCDA choirs last week.
Director Leslie Anderson at Stroud said she is very excited for her six students who made the honor hoirs.
“They worked very hard, and it paid off,” she said. “The students are very excited. Two are seniors and this is their second year to make it. Three of my students, this is their first year to make it, and they may be the most excited.”
Stroud had 11 students audition. Anderson said their next adventure will be All-State Round One, the All-District Festival and their Veterans Day Assembly.
Chandler schools had 15 students make the choirs out of 17 that auditioned. Choir Director Trinity Holland said she is very proud of her students for being able to represent Chandler in East Central Oklahoma.
“It’s really awesome to see so many of my students make it and get to participate,” she said. “The kids look forward to ECOCDA every year. They enjoy singing with students from other schools and the clinician is always a positive influence in their musical experience.”
The Chandler choir is also looking forward to the first round of All-State auditions on Nov. 2, and their fall concert on Nov. 14.
Stroud junior high students who made ECOCDA choir are Kendall Ahrend and Isla Arballo. High school students are Audrey Chace, Sage Hightower, Maddie Murrow and Addisyn Neeley.
