The McLoud Alumni Association held their 46th annual All-School Reunion in July, 2022 after taking a two year break due to COVID.
They were very happy with the number of Alumnus that attended. A new location was used and everyone enjoyed seeing the new Intermediate School and Cafeteria, at 866 S. Arena Road.
Rhonda Hockenbury, McLoud Public School Superintendent, was the guest speaker. She brought the alumnus up to date on new activities, budgets, and enrollment of the school.
Three 50-year classes were honored, 1970, 1971, and 1972.
Four teachers were added to the Redskin Remember Program, which honors former teachers or school personnel. This year the following four were recognized: Edna Holmes, Jr-High English Teacher, Steve Tipton, Band Director, Val Gokey, High School Counsel, Teacher and Coach, Traci Gokey, Elementary Teacher and Reading Specialist, and Gary Hodde, Teacher, Coach, Assistant High School Principal and Athletic Director.
Their names have been added to the plaque that is located in the trophy case at the J.E. Walker Field House. More former teachers or personnel will be recognized and added in 2023.
The Alumni Association collects dues and donations from our alumnus every year and those funds are given back to the school where they see their greatest need.
Our Alumnus were very generous this year and a monetary donation of over $7000,00 was given to the Superintendent and Staff, September 20, 2022.
Part of this donation was awarded to Audrey Johnson, Band Director for new music stands and a portable rack to stack them on. These stands will be purchased in honor of a donation made by Steve Tipton.
The school’s other greatest need was new flexible seating for the Elementary Library. The largest part of the $7000.00 donation will purchase thirty two chairs and eight tables to enrich a better learning experience for our elementary students. This donation was awarded to Kathy Buzzard, ECC Librarian, Andrew Winters, ECC Principal, and David Hagans, ECC Assistant Principal.
The McLoud Alumni Association is working with Ken Thompson, IT Specialist on adding an Alumni portal onto the McLoud Public School’s website. They hope to have this online soon.

The Alumni committee is already gearing up for the annual Reunion in 2023. Meetings have started and new volunteers are needed. The next meeting is October 11, 2022 at 12:00 noon.
