The Meeker Town Board of Trustees this week voted to change the hours of operation for Town Hall.
Following a lengthy discussion that included input from some Town employees, Trustee Kenneth Massey moved to change the hours of Town Hall to four 10-hour days Monday through Thursday. Mayor Donna Weber seconded the motion and Trustees voted 4-1 with Trustee Aaron Head in opposition.
The change will become effective on Monday, Oct. 20. Town Hall will be closed on Fridays.
Hours of operation will be 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday.
The Trustees learned that Town Administrator Jeff Wilbourn has been appointed administrator to the Jackson estate in Meeker during a court hearing in Cleveland County on Aug. 28.
Without going into executive session, the Trustees appointed Nicholas Doe as a full time Meeker police officer and they accepted the resignation letter of Officer Tommy Hughes.
In other business, they: Accepted the engagement letter from Autumn Williams for the upcoming audit.
They took no action concerning the overpopulation of cats in the Town of Meeker.
They appointed Town Clerk Kimberly Haynes as a point of contact, authorized agent, for the Town of Meeker for the Oklahoma Retirement Fund Agent Designation process form.
Approved Grant Administrator Leslie Wilbourn, Five Tool Management, to apply and accept, if awarded, the Municipal Road Drilling Activity Fund to repair roads in the town limits of Meeker.
It was explained the Lincoln County commissioners have approved a letter of support and up to $120,000 as a match. “It will cost us nothing if we are awarded it,” Wilbourn said.
They also adopted a resolution on the Project Application for the Municipal Road Drilling.
Approved the 80/20 grant for phase 1 of the Omni Warn outdoor warning system.
Meeting as the Public Works Authority, they authorized Town Administrator Jeff Wilbourn to negotiate a $19,386.02 claim the Town received from R&M Diesel, Inc. and report back at the October meeting.
