Meeker man dies in Kingfisher crash

A Meeker man has died in a one-vehicle traffic collision over the weekend in Kingfisher County.

Oklahoma Highway Patrol Lt. Robert Cottrill, of Troop J, who investigated the collision, identified the driver who died as Aaron C. Standlee, 42.

Cottrill said Standlee was pronounced deceased at the scene by Kingfisher EMS due to injuries sustained in the collision.

He reported that the collision occurred just before 7 p.m. on County Road N. 2740 and E770 Road approximately five miles south of Loyal in Kingfisher County.

Cottrill said Standlee was driving a 2001 Peterbilt 379 north on CR-N.2740 Road. As it approached the curve at East 770 Road the driver failed to properly negotiate the turn, causing the vehicle to leave the roadway.

The driver overcorrected, he said, coming back onto the road causing the vehicle to roll.

He said the vehicle rolled one complete time when the trailed became detached from the tractor. The tractor then rolled an additional one-fourth time landing on its passenger side causing the driver to be partially ejected through the roof.

Cottrill reported condition of the driver at the time of the collision is under investigation.

He listed cause of the collision as inattention. He reported that seat belts were equipped in the vehicle but not in use.
