Meeker Board of Education members this week approved temporary appropriations for 2025-2026, hired several personnel and accepted the resignations of two teachers.
School Supt. Jeff Pruitt said total General Fund temporary appropriations total $10,223,354. Building Fund is $310,935 and Child Nutrition is $405,577.
Without going into executive session the board members hired Angela Scott, high school teacher, Cole Smith, middle school teacher and coach, Candice Gatz, high school/middle school counselor and Andrea Sherman, elementary teacher.
All are for the 2025-2026 school year.
Resignations accepted include Jessica Akins and Mary Gettle, both elementary teachers.
The board members aligned itself for the next year keeping Lindell Standlee president, Bret Wood vice president and Josh Elliott Clerk.
Board members approved a contract with Rider Classroom Spanish for 2025-2026 and approved Central Oklahoma School Pictures for the 2025-2026 school year.
They adopted a resolution for Schools and Libraries Universal Services (E-Rate) for 2025-2026. It authorizes filing of a form for applications for funding year 2025-2026 and payment of the applicant’s share upon approval of funding and receipt of services.
In her report to the board members Elementary School Principal advised them enrollment is at 309 students, all regular test sessions will be completed byApr. 29 and all make-ups by Thursday, May 1.
She mentionedApr. 17 is National School Secretary Appreciation Day and Pre-K and Kindergarten graduation will be Monday, May 19. The 5th grade awards assembly and final walk is set for Tuesday, May 20.
Middle School Principal Matt Jones showed enrollment is 201 students, and told board members state testing is this week.
High School Principal Brad Buxton informed board members enrollment is at 247, said the ACT for juniors was completed and pointed to the number of activities between now and the end of the school year.
School Supt. Jeff Pruitt in his report touched on legislative issues, saying 105 education bills were still alive last week.
