A Stroud man who previously has been convicted of at least six felonies faces a new felony and two misdemeanors following his arrest by officers.
Formal charges were filed March 19, 2025, in Lincoln County District Court against Buddy Ray Pittman, 39.
They include a felony, possession of firearm after former felony conviction, and misdemeanors of possession of Controlled Dangerous Substance and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.
He made his initial appearance on April 10.
Special Judge Emily Mueller has scheduled his pre-preliminary hearing for 1:30 p.m. on June 23.
Count 1 accuses Pittman on March 18, 2025, of possession of a pistol located in the driver side floorboard after he had been convicted of possession of a stolen vehicle in Johnston County on July 7, 2016, In count 2 he is charged on the same day of having in his possession and under his control marijuana considered a CDS.
Count 3 accuses him of unlawful possession of scales and needles which are used by abusers of drugs classified as CDS.
Supplemental information filed in the case by Assistant District Attorney Rachel Thompson shows Pittman was convicted in Bryan Count District Court on Oct. 15, 2008 of possession of a stolen vehicle.
On June 7, 2011 in Bryan County District Court he was convicted of second degree burglary.
On Feb. 20, 2009 in Marshall County District Court he was convicted of conspiracy and on the same convicted of first degree burglary.
In Marshall County District Court on May 27, 2016, Pittman was convicted Distribution of CDS—Methamphetamine and on the same convicted of the offense of escape.
