A pre-preliminary hearing has been set for a Chandler man facing three felonies and two misdemeanors for allegedly assaulting three officers with the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office and another individual.
Three charges of assault and battery on a police officers were formally filed in December against Royce Walker Weathers, 31.
He made his initial appearance before Associate District Judge Sheila Kirk on Dec. 23, 2024. She has set his bond at $7,500 with the stipulation he have no contact with the victims.
His pre-preliminary hearing is scheduled for 9 a.m. March 27, 2025.
In Count 1, a felony, Weathers is accused on Dec. 9, 2024 of striking Lincoln County Deputy Memphis Anderson in the throat by kicking him with the intent to injure Anderson as he performed his duties as a police officer.
Count 2, also a felony, charges him on the same day of striking Lincoln County Sheriff’s employee Jasen Hassler on the right knee by kicking him with the intent to injure Hasler while he was performing his duties as a police officer.
Count 3, a felony, accuses Weathers on Dec. 9, 2024 of striking Lincoln County Detention Officer Anasthasius Penny in the neck by elbowing him with the intent to injury Penny knowing that Penny was performing the duties of a detention officer.
In count 4, breaking and entering dwelling without permission, a misdemeanor, Weathers is charged on Dec. 9 of breaking and entering into a house that Teresa Bennett resided.
Count 5 accuses Weathers of assault and battery, a misdemeanor, on Dec. 9 by committing assault and battery on Jeremiah Sullivan and hitting him in the chest with force and violence.
