A $100,000 bench warrant has been issued for the arrest of man already convicted of several felonies in recent years and now faces three more felonies and a misdemeanor.
James Edward Ballard, Jr., 30, of Sallisaw, was formally charged in Lincoln County District Court on June 24 with first degree robbery after former conviction of two or more felonies; domestic assault and battery resulting in great bodily harm after former conviction of two more felonies; unauthorized use of a vehicle after former conviction of two or more felonies.
He was also charged with disrupting an emergency telephone call, a misdemeanor.
Information filed in the case shows that Ballard has been convicted of at least a half dozen felonies in three different district courts since 2011. In Count 1 of the
In Count 1 of the charges filed in June against Ballard, he is accused on April 28 this year in Harrah in Lincoln County of robbing Kelsie Sallee by carrying away her keys to her Jeep and taking the Jeep that she owned, without her consent, and hitting her head in the ground, and twisting her finger attempting to take her keys.
He reportedly broke one of her fingers, which required surgery to repair.
Count 2 charges Ballard on the same day of tackling Kelsie to the ground as he was attempting to take her keys.
In Count 3, he is accused on the same day of driving a 2007 Jeep WXR without being entitled to its possession and without Sallee’s consent with the intent to deprive her of the Jeep WXR.
The misdemeanor states he prevented her from placing an emergency telephone call by taking her phone when was she on a call with the 911 operator.
Prosecutors filed supplemental information against Ballard for after former conviction of two or more felonies.
On March 7, 2018, he was convicted in Oklahoma County District Court of the felony offense of Count 1, kidnapping and Count 2, domestic abuse.
On Feb. 12, 2014, Ballard was convicted in Oklahoma County District of Count 1, larceny of an automobile and Count 2, unauthorized use of a vehicle.
The information shows on Apr. 29, 2013, in Cleveland Count District Court he was convicted of felony second degree burglary.
In Oklahoma County District Court on Feb. 22, 2013, Ballard was convicted of the felony false declaration of ownership.
And on March 11, 2011 he was convicted in Lincoln County of possession of a stolen vehicle.
