The Chandler VFW Post 1719 would like to thank the citizens of Lincoln County for their generous support of our mission to lend aid to those who lost so much in the recent hurricane storms that hit North Carolina. Your donations were so many that it required the use of a semi-truck to deliver the much-needed supplies to their destination. Mark Rackley (VFW Post 1719 Senior Vice) and his wife Karen (a member of the VFW Auxiliary) escorted the semi-truck to North Carolina, where it was received by VFW Post 5352 in Kernersville, North Carolina. We were met there by Matt Friedman (VFW Post 1719 Adjutant) and his friend Cindy Orr, who assisted with unloading all the donations. VFW Post 5352 in Kernersville has been working hard as a staging area to receive and distribute donations and supplies to some of the hardest-hit areas. They were so very thankful for the generous support from the people of Oklahoma. Their exact words were, “It was been people helping people around here, the government has been little to no help.”
Several big “Thank Yous” go out to Averitt Trucking Company, who made it possible to transport the donations to the staging area; Route 66 Storage and Pawn, who supposed a storage site and box truck that allows us to organize and transport supplies locally; Physical Therapy Associates who provided additional storage by use of unused office space; IBN; 160th National Guard Armory who assisted with loading and shrink wrapping of supplies; VFW District 9 Commander Brian Ford and the Edmond VFW Post 4938 for their generous donations; Chandler American Legion Post 64 for getting the word out, and all the VFW and Auxiliary members who gave their time to retrieve, sort, and pack all the donations for shipment.
Without everyone’s help, this mission would not have been so successful.
Thank you!
