Town Talk

Just a reminder that there will be no trivia this month. We will take a break until “social distancing” is no longer an issue. This would be a good time to brush up on your trivia while you are self-quarantined so you’re ready for the next competition.

My brother Gary and his wife, Lisa, decided to change professions and are currently team truck driving and seeing parts of the United States that are new to them. They were recently selected employees of the month out of over 2,000 employees by their company, CFI. After the tornado in Nashville they had the opportunity to help another CFI driver who found herself stranded there while her truck was in the shop. Gary & Lisa took her supplies and food since she had no transportation. They were commended for going above and beyond their job description. They are both “helpers” by nature, so it was nice that their efforts were recognized.

I noticed on Facebook people were bragging about our local grocery store, Williams, and how well they are keeping things stocked and available to our community. I have been in William’s and Dollar General recently and agree they are doing a great job. We are lucky to have both here locally. I have found everything I was looking for at these two stores. I needed to order some flowers the other day and Janice at OJ’s had her number posted on the front door. All I had to do was call her and she was able to take care of my order. I have even received recorded calls from Brianna and Bill at Stroud Drug giving me information about my prescriptions and the shingles shot. Isn’t it great to live in a small town where we know our business owners and they do whatever they can to accommodate us? They are doing what it takes to meet our needs during this pandemic.

Town Talk continues to work behind the scenes to plan community improvement projects for Stroud. Our Main Street digital sign will be arriving soon, and other ideas are in the works. We are just waiting for life to return to “normal” and we will be ready to get to work.

Have a great week and as always, remember to shop and dine local…………first.
