The Wellston High School administrators announced the valedictorians and salutatorians for the 2022 senior graduating class. The valedictorians are Trista Lynn Baird, Hayden Campbell, Aydan McQuay Elaine Moore, Kendal Johnson, Kaylea McLin, and Taylor McConnell, and Madison Webb was named salutatorian.
These students were recognized at Wellston’s commencement ceremony 7 pm, May 19, at the High School Gym.
Trista Lynn Baird
The daughter of Misti and Luke Davenport, Valedictorian Trista Lynn Baird has attended Wellston Schools since kindergarten.
She has been in the National Honor Society all four years of high school.
After graduation, she plans to attend Francis Tuttle and become a licensed cosmetologist, get married, own a salon of her own one day, and start a family of her own.
Hayden Campbell
The child of Tina and Tom Ferencich , Valedictorian Hayden Campbell has attended Wellston Schools since pre-k and holds 4.03 grade point average.
Campbell has been named to the superintendent’s honor roll and was a starting player on the varsity basketball team.
He participated in Future Farmers of America, and was a chapter officer, as well as participating in Business Professionals of America and yearbook.
In the community, he attends church.
After graduation, Campbell plans to attend college to complete his general education and after that, to coach high school basketball.
Aydan McQuay Elaine Moore
Valedictorian Aydan McQuay Elaine Moore is the child of Jeromy and Tina Moore, and has attended Wellston schools for six years.
He is a member of the National Honor Society and attends Rose State college and the University of Central Oklahoma.
Moore worked at the Oklahoma City Zoom and Botanical Garden.
After graduation, his future plans are to keep moving forward one step at a time and see where things go.
Kendal Johnson
The child of Cory and Cortney Johnson, Valedictorian Kendal Johnson has attended Wellston since pre-k and holds a 4.0 grade point average.
She has been named Most Valuable Player for varsity basketball, All-American for varsity cheerleading, All-Region for cheer, and to the superintendent’s honor roll.
Johnson participated in varsity basketball, varsity cheer, National Honor Society, Future Farmers of America (FFA), Business Professionals of America, Family Careers and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA), and yearbook.
In the community, she serves with God and People Food Bank, and helped train cheerleaders in summer camp.
She worked for Superstarz Tumbling and Cheer.
After graduation, she plans to dual major in elementary education and early childhood education at Oklahoma Baptist University (OBU) and compete in the OBU cheer squad.
Kaylea McLin
The daughter of Brandi McLin and Jeremiah McLin, Valedictorian Kaylea McLin has attended Wellston Schools since pre-k and holds a 3.9 grade point average.
She has been named to the superintendent’s honor roll and Offensive Player of the Year in varsity basketball.
She participated in the National Honor Society, baseball, Business Professionals of America, and yearbook.
In the community, she tutored younger peers and worked at The Chicken Shack.
After graduation, she plans to attend Oklahoma State University (OSU) and receive her bachelor’s degree in early childhood education to become a kindergarten teacher.
Taylor McConnell
Valedictorian Taylor McConnell is the daughter of Tucker and Lesley McConnell and has attended Wellston Schools since pre-k. She holds a 4.0 unweighted, and 4.2 weighted grade point average.
McConnell has been named to Oklahoma Academic All-State and superintendent’s honor roll in 2019-2022.
An Oklahoma Future Farmers of America (FFA) Association State Officer Candidate, she has also been named Regional STEM Standout in 2019 and was a Oklahoma State University President’s Leadership Council Recipient and a member of the Wellston High ACT 30 & Above Club.
She participated in Wellston FFA, National Honor Society, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Lincoln County 4-H Program, American Farmers and Ranchers Youth Program, National Junior Swine Association, and Wellston Gifted and Talented program.
In the community, she has participated in Wellston Veteran’s Day Assembly, Wellston High Campus Clean-Up 2017-2022, and volunteered with Wellston FFA Chapter Christmas Angel Tree in 2019-2021 and with Samaritan’s Purse Christmas Foundation in 2019-2021.
She worked as a babysitter in 2020-2022, worked in farm care for 5T Farms in 2018-2022, and 3T Farms in 2017-2022, as well as working for D&D Livestock in 2021-2022.
After graduation she plans to attend Oklahoma State University. Following the completion of her bachelor’s degree, she plans to pursue a doctorate of veterinary medicine at Oklahoma State University (OSU) Vet School. She hopes to eventually own her own large-animal clinic in Oklahoma.
Madison Webb
Salutatorian Madison Webb is the child of Cindy Webb and Charley Webb, and has attended Wellston Schools since pre-k. She holds a 3.98 grade point average.
Webb was named to the principal’s honor roll for two years, the superintendent’s honor roll for two years, and received the Student of Today Award from Masonic Lodge.
She participated in Wellston Future Farmers of America (FFA) for three years, National Honor Society, and Business Professionals of America for three years.
Additionally, Webb played basketball for four years, fastpitch and slowpitch softball for four years, and participated in cheer for two years.
In the community, Webb volunteered with Stroud Hospital Health Fair, the FFA Chapter, and Wellston Little League Baseball. She attends First Baptist Church in Wellston and has worked for EZ Go in Chandler for one and a half years.
After graduation, she plans to attend Oklahoma State University (OSU)-Stillwater and major in psychology with a minor in criminal justice.
