Cal Francis Guthrie was born April 28, 1935, in Moore, Okla. He died Friday, September 4, 2020, at his home in Chandler. He was 85 years old.
Guthrie, the son of Carl “Carlie” Francis and Ruth “Ruthie” (Gordon) Guthrie, married Peggy Guthrie on August 2, 1959.
Cal graduated from high school in Moore, Okla., in 1953. He earned a Bachelor of Science from Central State University in Edmond, Okla., with a double major in math and physics. After earning a master’s degree from Oklahoma State University, he taught at the University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond for 41 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife of 59 years, Peggy Guthrie.
Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Gregg and Nancy Guthrie of Chandler, Carl and Rebecca Guthrie of Noblesville, Ind., and Cory and Julie Guthrie of Edmond; five grandchildren; and other family and friends.
A private celebration of life will be 2 p.m., Sunday, September 13, 2020 in the chapel of Lehman Funeral Home of Wellston, which handled the final arrangements.
