After 87 years of a life well lived, John (Johnny) Daniel Davis of Meeker, Oklahoma died April 4, 2023, at St. Anthony’s Hospital in Shawnee, Oklahoma from a sudden illness.
He was born January 15, 1936, in Lincoln County, Oklahoma, to Grady Lee Davis and Amy Jannie (Smith) Davis. Johnny began first grade at Concord School, and he was a 1954 graduate of Meeker High School. He married his high school sweetheart Billie Deanna Cloud on July 10, 1954, at the First Christian Church in Meeker, Oklahoma. From this union three children were born: Kathy, Ann, and John.
Johnny was employed by the United States Department of Agriculture Soil Conservation Division from July 13, 1959, until his retirement on January 6, 1995, with 36 years of government service.
Johnny was preceded in death by his parents Grady and Jannie Davis; brothers, Odra and Kenneth Davis; nephews, Larry, Glen and Mike Davis.
Johnny is survived by daughters, Kathy Becher (Dave), Norman; Ann Baskin (Mike), Oklahoma City; son John Davis, Oklahoma City; adopted son David Davis, Edmond; three grandsons; seven granddaughters and 12 great-grandchildren; special nieces, Anita King and Kelly Lockwood.
Serving as pallbearers are Aaron Ketter, Chris Becher, Shawn Lockwood, Kelvin King, Pat Irwin, and Charlie Green.
A celebration of his life was held April 10 at the First Baptist Church in Meeker. Interment was at Resthaven Cemetery in Oklahoma City. Arrangements were under the direction of Lehman Funeral Home of Wellston.
