Lonnie Rex Carter, 78, was born November 14, 1941, near McFall, Mo. He died Wednesday, October 28, 2020.
Carter, the son of Frank Pierce and Lois Pauline (Mooney) Carter, married Betty L. Newby on May 3, 1964, in Kansas City, Mo. He married Christine (Ancona) Middleton and on March 18, 1982, he married Merry Annette Riddle in Grayson, Texas.
A 1959 high school graduate, he served in the U.S. Army and the North Kansas City Police Department before becoming a truck driver. A licensed aviator, he flew search operations as a reserve deputy sheriff in Oklahoma.
His wife Merry, his parents and his brother Jimmy preceded him in death.
Survivors include his daughters, Sandra (Gallus), Cynthia “Cindy” (Jones) and Jennifer Carter; his sons, Christopher Carter, Frank Kearney, Michael Kearney, James Carter, Clinton Carter and Larry “Butch” Mitchell; and 19 grandchildren.
He is also survived by his sister Juanita Wilcox of Tennessee; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Earl and JoAnn of McFall Mo., Larry and Mary of Pattonsburg, Mo., and Sam and Janet of Stewartsville, Mo.; and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services with military rites were held Monday, Nov. 2, 2020, at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Gallatin, Mo., under the direction of Roberson Funeral Home in Pattonsburg. Inurnment will be at a later date at McFall Cemetery.
