The Chandler School Board approved a memorandum of understanding with the Chandler Education Foundation to direct money to the Performing Arts Center at its regular meeting on Dec. 8.
The school district received a private donation for lighting in the PAC, said Superintendent Scott Baade, andtheMOUwasessentially to specify that is what the donation is going toward.
The Board also approved the hiring of Carson Edwards, a new full-time paraprofessional at East Side Elementary, and the lease of 83 acres across from Route 66 Pawn Shop to Garrett Jackson for $1,600 for the year. The land will be used for cattle and hay.
The Board approved the Virtual Instruction Day Play for the 2026-27 school year. Baade said after this school year, schools are not allowed to use virtual days unless they have a plan that isapprovedbytheOklahoma State Department of Education (OSDE). Additionally, he said they can only be used if the governor declares a state of emergency.
“But otherwise, any time we’re out for bad weather or electricity goes out or anything like that, we have to use those days in the spring that are set aside for snow days,” he said.
Baade said they will have at least one, maybe two, snow days built into the calendar, but unless the OSDE grants permission, any other snow days will have to be added on at the end of the year.
Other items approved were the list of Verizon hotspots as surplus and the 2024-25 audit report.
