Thanksgiving this year once again was really nice. As I had written a couple of weeks ago, our daughter Meghan and son-in-law Terry invited Pat and me to their house for Thanksgiving Day along with Pat’s mother because Terry was able to be off.
Terry prepared the turkey. Meghan said he enjoys doing it and we were all for it.
Making the Thanksgiving holiday weekend even more special, was after spending the afternoon and part of the evening all together, Meghan and Terry brought our grandson Liam over Friday afternoon to spend until Sunday with us.
Meghan and Terry’s wedding anniversary is the early part of December.
She had asked back in October if we would keep the little guy Thanksgiving weekend so they could spend some time celebrating their anniversary and of course we told her sure.
We’ve done this previously of course. I reflected back to the first time we kept little Liam overnight. He was about to turn four months old.
Our daughter Meghan brought him over to us early on a Saturday afternoon and she and her husband Terry came to pick him up about 24 hours later on Sunday afternoon. Meghan had asked about a week before if we would do that.
We’ve kind of made a habit of keeping him for part or all of the weekend like we did this year around the time they try and celebrate their anniversary.
A couple of years ago he discovered a little fire place shovel outside in the backyard. That’s now his shovel so we keep it in a special spot for him.
Liam is nearing 4½ years old and he is a busy little boy.
Last year for Christmas we had gotten him one of those motorized cars that he can drive and he really seems to enjoy it.
It goes up to 2.5 miles per hour. And he likes to drive it that fast, too, I assure you.
We also have a golf cart that he likes to both ride and sit in my lap and help drive.
He loves to just play in the dirt with that little shovel, drive his little car, go in the golf cart and play with his other toys in our house.
And he really enjoys going in our old Blue pickup truck.
He now calls it “his blue pickup truck” so Pat and I take him for several rides each time he comes over and stays with us.
It’s amazing to watch how he’s grown and what all he can do in the four years of his little life. We are so privileged that Meghan and Terry ask us to keep him from time to time and have him in our lives.
