December 22nd, 2020 at 4:00 a.m., I was heading to the hospital for a scheduled C-section.
I was a ball of nerves the entire drive. Tried drowning out my nerves with music the whole way but it didn’t quite work.
We made it to the hospital and as they prepared me for surgery, I began getting more excited!
Would she look like her sister? Hair or no hair? What color eyes would she have?
All of the things people wonder about their children.
At 8:06 a.m., Tillie was born.
Hearing the first shriek of your child is such a relief.
I watched every move they made with her. She had brown hair with big blue eyes. She was 7 lbs, 4 oz and 20 inches long with a big dark birthmark on her left wrist.
Pure perfection. I could not wait to show her off!
Because of Covid, nobody was allowed to come to the hospital so I started to FaceTime family after a while of being selfish with her.
Everyone would “ooh” and “ahh” over her and then I went back to soaking up my time with her.
Tillie’s long fingers wrapped perfectly around one of mine.
As she held my finger tightly, I thought of all the possible things she could grow up to do and who she would become.
I was so proud of her.
We spent two days in the hospital before finally getting to go home on Christmas Eve.
Now we are exactly two weeks from her second birthday.
She is around 30 pounds and a little over three feet tall.
Brown curly hair and such pretty big green eyes.
She is wild yet so sweet. A true sour patch toddler.
Two years later and I’m still so proud of her. Her fingers aren’t as small and her shrieks are a bit louder but I still often think about all the things she will grow up to do.
She was by far the best Christmas present.
