Resigning from Fair Board

To the Lincoln County Commissioners and fellow board members of the Lincoln County Fair Board.

I am resigning from my seat as an active attending member of the Lincoln County Fair Board effective immediately. Due to unforeseen personal issues, I am unable to represent the taxpayers of this county and carry out the duties of my board seat.

I have asked questions and done some due diligence on my part and have been met with great resistance. Being a member of this board means that we must be good stewards of the money budgeted to the fairgrounds. It is my opinion that I no longer want to be involved in making decisions for the taxpayers of Lincoln County on behalf of the board. It is in my best interest that I vacate the position. There are certain steps that must be taken for handling money and purchasing items and those are not being implemented.

This letter will also serve as notice that I am vacating my position as Superintendent of the Goat show. The show book is never correct, and I cannot fulfill that position with the lack of correct information or detail being put into providing that information to our exhibitors and their representative superintendent.

I have received more complaints in the last two years about fair books being wrong; spring ribbons were given out at the fall fair; shows never start on time; it takes hours to divide class, the premium sale changes, etc. Our exhibitors deserve better, they put their time, effort, and money into their projects and get poor performance from us. I came on board in the hope of helping to make some positive changes, and I will leave knowing I have done my best to accomplish that for all our exhibitors.

This was not an easy decision to make, and I hope that my departure will not cause any inconvenience for the board.

I would like to thank the Commissioners and the citizens of Lincoln County for allowing me to serve on this board. Sincerely, Wayne Rozell Jr. Chandler, Ok.
