It’s Farmer’s Market time. September’s market will be held this Saturday at the Main Street Route 66 Pavilion.

The event will begin at 8:00 a.m. If you would like to set up a booth you may contact Mandy Clark via Facebook or call me at 918-527-9833.

The American Legion and the Auxiliary will meet at 6:00 p.m. this coming Monday, September 14th at the American Legion Building at 6:00 p.m. All members are encouraged to attend.

If you are eligible and interested in joining come meet with us and we will get you signed up.

I will be picking up more American flag flowerpots this week. If you requested a first or second flowerpot, they should be available next week for pickup. You will be notified when and where you may pick them up.

Thanks to everyone who purchased one. It is fun to drive around Stroud and see all them displayed in your yards. It enabled Town Talk to raise monies for the pavilion restrooms.

One idea I have for Main Street is a 9-hole portable miniature golf course with a Route 66 theme.

I have looked at a couple and have researched them on the Internet.

This is still in the “I’d like to do this” phase so if any of you carpenters out there have any ideas for suggestions please contact me.

I think it would be a great way to get visitors to stop and stretch their legs and visit our community. I think my good friend, Randy Owens, might be able to help me with this one.

Speaking of Randy, I stopped by and visited with his mom Pat Owens the other day.

We were visiting about how nice it is to live in a small town. You know everybody, and people check in on you. She said anytime there is bad weather she can count on Jewell Smart or Pete Sawatzky to clean off her sidewalk.

I’m sure those are just two of many of Stroud’s unsung heroes. Thank you, Jewell and Pete, for taking care of our senior citizens. Jewell and Nancy Smart also donated plywood for a Main Street Town Talk project that we are getting ready to start.

Pete has one of our most unique Stroud businesses. If you’re looking for a part for a Chevy, his shop is the place to go.

I also stopped by to check on Olen Hurst and he told me his wife was currently at Stroud Health Care South receiving rehab services.

We talked about the difficulty everyone is experiencing who have family members at health care facilities.

Due to the pandemic it makes it difficult for family members to visit. He did tell me he and Judy recently celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary and he took 62 cupcakes, made by D’s Specialty House, out to the care center to celebrate. Happy Belated Anniversary to Olen and Judy.

Prairie Pointe and Stroud Health Care Center South are to be commended for their diligence in keeping their residents safe. They have had no COVID-19 related illnesses at either facility

Have you seen the antique buggy in front of the Skyliner Motel?

If not, drive by and take a look.

It’s another conversation piece and great photo opportunity for Route 66 travelers.

Have you been out to eat in Stroud lately? Our small community has it all.

Did you know the Cue & Brew has great food items?

You may dine in or get it to go.

Did you know On Cue on Highway 99 has a roller bar where you can get a late-night hot dog, or you can stop by Main Street On Cue for a pizza pocket at lunch?

Stroud serves BBQ, pizza, Chinese, Mexican and American foods and what’s amazing all our restaurants serve delicious food. Most small towns don’t have the variety or quality of food Stroud has to offer.

Gift certificates from these establishments make great gifts so keep that in mind.

We even have donuts and ice cream so you can find any of your dining obsessions right here in Stroud, OK.

Have a great week and remember to shop and dine local………………first.
