Town Talk offers it condolences to the Jordan and Jamie Bailey family in the death of Jordan’s grandmother, Wanza Merrifield of Ponca City. Wanza was the greatgrandmother of Stroud students, Gage and Braxton Bailey. Gage is a Stroud freshman, and Braxton is a second grader. Grandparents play a special role in their grandchildren’s lives, and I know the Bailey family feels blessed to have had Wanza live such a long and fulfilling ninety-seven years.

I met her at Stroud’s eighth grade graduation and again at Gage’s baptism at First Baptist Church. It just took a couple of visits to realize she was a special lady.

August and Lincoln will be playing fall ball this season with Performance Baseball. They played in a tournament this past weekend in Newcastle. Both boys spent time on the mound and also hit the ball well. They played two games on Saturday and three on Sunday, so it was a full weekend of baseball. Luckily the weather cooperated, and it was not sweltering heat or raining. It was just perfect baseball weather.

It’s hard to believe school is starting next week but as usual, it rolls around this time every year. Be sure to check with our local merchants when buying your backto- school necessities. Have a great week and thank you for continuing to shop local…………..first!
