Two community groups are helping raise money for the Stroud Food Pantry this week, the Masons and our local firefighters. This Friday night, October 31st, the Masonic Lodge along with food pantry volunteers are hosting a spaghetti dinner fundraiser. On Tuesday, November 4th the firefighters will hold their annual Food Drive. Put your items in a bag and leave your porch light on so firefighters know you have food to donate. The Stroud Fire Department is also recruiting new volunteer firefighters. You must be eighteen years or older to apply. Training in multiple areas will be provided. You may pick up an application at Stroud City Hall.

The Stroud Tiger High School football team easily beat the Casady Cyclones this past Friday night in Oklahoma City. The game ran a little longer than usual due to a half-time lightning delay but was short compared to Tuesday night’s 18-inning World Series game. The Tigers will take on the Hennessey Eagles this Friday night in Stroud at Jack Poskey Field. Kick-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. Both Stroud and Hennessey are 5-0 in District play so the match-up should make for an exciting game. Turn those Tiger blue porch lights on, grab your Tiger cowbell and come out on Friday night and support the team.

Long-time Stroud resident Bruce Miller passed away this past weekend. Bruce loved horses, the Sooners and dancing. He attended many Town Talk trivia nights. When I worked for the City of Stroud, he would stop by my office and share ideas he had for me. He has been a Stroud staple for as long as I can remember and I will miss visiting with him. His children, Bruce Jr., Pam and Curtis are all graduates of Stroud High school. Town Talk offers its condolences to Bruce’s friends and family.
